The Private Market Sector (PRIMS) of AIIC will hold its summer Plenary Meeting on the weekend of the 21st and 22nd July 2018 in RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil.

All AIIC members, candidates and pre-candidates are invited to join our discussion – to be held at a venue soon to be announced - and to debate matters of interest to the profession.

We look forward to seeing as many of you as possible. We are still working on the final agenda but we are planning on having lively sessions based on constructive interaction. We would like this to be an opportunity for all to learn more, and to shed light on the future of the private market.

The Meeting DRAFT Agenda includes:

Saturday 9:00-17:30

Sunday 9:00-16:30

1) Welcome, Presentation of PRIMS and follow-up on previous meetings

2) Market report from Brazil and discussion on matters of interest to Brazil and South America region

3) Remote Interpreting and Negotiating New Working Conditions

4) PRIMS cooperation on priorities with AB (Advisory Board): IT Transition, Brand and Visibility, Vision of future

5) New PRIMS landing page

Rather than having fixed, one-way presentations, we will have two informal “Davos–style" panels on both Saturday and Sunday. The aim is to encourage an open discussion and give everyone the chance to contribute to the topics on the agenda. Members of VEGA and CACL will also make contributions.

Furthermore our Brazilian colleagues are planning interesting activities for the week starting July 23rd, including a Portuguese language refresher course. More details will follow

Prior to the plenary meeting, the first PRIMS Interpreters’ BarCamp will be organized on the afternoon of Friday, 20 July, open to all, AIIC members, non-AIIC members, teachers, students, equipment rental companies and other players involved in the conference interpreting sector.
